هفت پیکر- حکایت گنبد ازرق:

روز چهارشنبه، آزریون دختر شاه مغرب در گنبد ازرق روایت میکند که:

مردی در مصر به نام ماهان زندگی میکرد که بسیار زیبا روی بود. روزی که در باغی مهمان یکی از دوستانش بود، مست در باغ میگشت که شریکش به او نزدیک شد و گفت که از تجارت سود بسیاری نصیبش شده است و مالش در کاروانسرایی در بیرون شهر است. بی آنکه کسی آن دو را ببیند، از باغ خارج شدند و میرفتندتا سحر دمید و او مست بر جای خفت. بیدار که شد، از نیمروز گذشته بود و او در میان بیابانی برهوت تنها بود. آن شب، مرد و زنی دید و آنها به او گفتند آنکه او را در اینجا افکنده، دیوی بوده. تا صبح با آن دو ره میسپرد، با دمیدن سپیده، آنها ناپدید شدند. روز بعد را هم راه رفت و از ریشه و تخم گیاهان خورد. شب که شد، سواری از راه رسید و به او گفت که آن زن و مرد، دو دیو بودند که آدمیان را میکشتند. سوار بر اسب او، به دشتی پر از غول و دیو رسیدند. ماهان چون به اسب نگریست، به جای آن اژدهایی دید با هفت سر و چهار پا و دو پر. به سخت راه خروج از آنجا را پیدا میکند و آبی پیدا کرده، خود را در آن میشوید. بعد از مدتی، به چاهی میرسد. به درون چاه میرود تا اندکی بیاساید وقتی بیدار میشود، متوجه نوری میشود که از روزنه ی دیوار چاه به درون میتابد. روزنه را قدری گشاد میکند و باغی سرسبز و خرم می بیند و به زحمت وارد باغ میشود. در این هنگام نعره ای بر می خیزد و پیرمردی او را به میوه دزدی متهم میکند ماهان، داستانش را برای پیرمرد بازگو میکند و پیر از او دلجویی کرده، و بیابان را محل سکونت دیوان می داند. سپس ماهان را به فرزندی می پذیرد، او را به داخل می برد و به او امر میکند که تا بازگشتش بالای درخت صندلی که روی شاخه هایش آب و غذا و تخت بوده، اندکی بیاساید تا وی خانه را برای ورود او آماده کند. ضمناً به او نصیحت می کند که با کسی سخن نگوید، حتی با آمدن پیرمرد، از او هم نشانه بخواهد و بعد او را بپذیرد. جوان منتظر می ماند. در همین حال، هفده دختر از راه می رسند و بزمگهی می سازند و خوان می گسترند. مهترشان اظهار میکند که کسی بالای درخت است و چه بهتر که پایین آمده و بر سفره نشیند. ماهان بدون به یاد آوردن سخن پیر، پایین رفته و به سفره می نشیند و غذا و شراب میخورد و دختر را در بر میگیرد. خوب که در او نظر میکند، عفریتی می بیند. با دمیدن سپیده، آنها محو می شوند و ماهان، به جای باغ، خارستانی مشاهده می کند.

دوباره به راه می افتد و به آبی می رسد و تنش را میشوید و به سجده می افتد و از خدا می خواهد که نجاتش دهد. سر را که بلند می کند، مردی سبز پوش را مشاهده می کند که خود را خضر خوانده و از او میخواند که چشمش را ببندد و باز کند. بعد او خودش را در همان باغ نخستین یافته و دوستانش را در غم فراقش ازرق پوش میبیند. ( جامه ای کبود رنگ که در آن روزگار جامه ی عزا بود.) از آن پس خودش نیز رنگ ازرق را برای لباسش بر میگزیند.

There lived a man called Mahan in Egypt, who was very handsome. One day when he was one of his friend’s guest in a garden, wandering there quite cut. His colleague approached him and said that he has gained a large profit in trading and his money  rests in a caravanseray out of the city. Without any one seeing them, they left the garden and they were giong untill the dawn came and he slept drunk. When he woke up, it was past noon and he was alone  in the middle of wildernes. That night he saw a man and a woman who told him that the one who had left him here, had been a demon. He he traversed with them untill morning. They dissappeared when the dawn appeared. He walked the next day too and ate the plant’s roots and seeds. When the night  arrived, a rider came and told him that the man and the woman had been two demons who kill human beings. Riding on his horse, they reached a field full of demons and giants. While Mahan looked at the horse, there was a dragon instead whit seven heads and four feet and two wings. He finds the way to exit  that place withgreat effort, finds some water and washes himself. After a while, he reaches a well and goes inside to rest. Waking up, he notices a light emerging from the well’s cervice. He makes the cervice wider and sees a green and fresh garden and enters it with great trouble. A cry is heard at the moment and an old man changes him with fruit robbery. Mahan narrates his story to the old man. The old man caresses him and knows the desert as the demon’s habitat. Then he adopts Mahan as his own son, takes him inside and orders him to rest on a tree on the branches of which there has been food and drink and a bed, untill he would make home ready for his arrival and would return. He also advises him not to talk to anyone, even with the old man’s arrival, he should ask him for a clue first and then admit him. The young man waits. In the meanwhile, seventeen girls arrive and set up a feast.

The greatest of them declares that someone is on the tree and it’s best that he come clown and join them. Mahan without remembering the old man’s remarks, comes down and joins them. Eats food and drinks wine and embaraces the girl. Looking at her carefully, he sees a demon. The dawn appears, they dissappeare and Mahan observes a heath instead of the garden.

He a sets off again, reaches a pol and washes himself, prostrates and askes God to save him. Rising his head, he observes a man in green clothes who call himself Elias, and asks him to close his eyes and open them again. Then he finds out himself in the first garden and beholds his friends wearing azure in the greif of his seperation. ( azure raiment was the mourning clothe at that time). He chooses azure also, as the colour of his clothes then.
